When John Petric wrote the above article for the March 1997 issue of
Columbus Monthly
magazine, I scarcely imagined that the CD project would take more than three years to reach fruition.  A few days after Christmas, 1996, George Gell, Tom Fallon, and I went into the Musicol studios and spent two days rummaging through their "library" of old tapes, searching for the best garage band recordings we could find.  We emerged with over two hours of choice material on DAT and a handshake agreement to issue some of them on Get Hip Records, a well-known independent label.  Early in 2000, Get Hip Records
announced via their website that
The Musicol Story would be released toward the end of May.  When the CD does become available, I will note it here.
The Myrchents epitomized the garage band sound celebrated by Lenny Kaye on his
Nuggets
compilation album (which was  the inspiration for The Musicol Story CD).
